Intel Core i9-12900KS beats Ryzen 9 5950X in leaked tests before launch

Intel Alder Lake-S flagship processor Core i9-12900KS is tested before its release

Seby9123, the famous Redditor, purchased Intel Core i9-12900KS before its official launch and he tested it with Ryzen 9 5950X. In this context, we are going to share the test results of it. So let’s take a look at the results.

According to a previous report, an Intel enthusiast named Seby9123, who is also a famous Redditor was very lucky to get an Intel Core i9-12900KS processor sample before its official release. The Intel Core i9-12900KS CPU is a flagship processor. The core count of this CPU is 16 and the thread count of this CPU is 24. The Alder Lake-S CPU is coming with some increased power and clock speeds. Intel will release this CPU to beat the upcoming CPU from AMD named Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor.

A test report from Cinebench R23 ensures that the processor has a maximum turbo boost frequency of 5.5 GHz for its 2 performance cores and 5.2 GHz of boost frequency for all 8 cores. It also showed that the efficient cores can boost maximum to 4.0 GHz.

The CPU-Z statistics showed that the CPU has increased PBP (PL1) to 150W, which confirms a 25W increase compared to the original 12900K SKU. So, the AVX-512 instructions are not listed by the processor monitoring tool, ensuring that Intel has indeed fused this part off from the silicon.

We can see in the test report provided by Seby9123, in a single-core test Intel Core i9-12900KS gets 2162 points, and in a multicore test, it scores 29164 points.

Without any overclocking, in a single-core test, the Intel Core i9-12900KS CPU delivers a 29.6% faster performance compared to the Ryzen 9 5950X CPU. In a multi-core test, the Intel Core i9-12900KS processor performs a 9.7% faster performance than the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X CPU. Please note that this is not Tom’s Hardware’s apples-to-apples comparison using slower memories (Tom’s Hardware: DDR5-4400 36-36-36-72, Seby9123: DDR5-6200 at 32-38-38-76).
