Intel to launch 16-core i9-12950HX and i7-12850HX Alder Lake-HX laptop CPUs soon
Core i9-12950HX and Core i7-12850HX are two new laptop processors from Intel are leaked by the Lenovo engineering team.
Over at the Geekbench website, one can see as many as three laptop processors (Alder Lake-HX) listed with their basic specs information. These are high-power laptop CPUs developed on the BGA version of the desktop 16-core silicon. This means that the flagship Alder Lake-HX SKUs, for example, the newly listed Intel Core i9-12950HX and Intel Core i9-12900HX (leaked previously) will be Intel’s first consumer laptop processors with 24 threads and 16-cores.
At present, in total there are three 16-core parts: Intel Core i7-12850HX, Intel Core i9-12900HX, and Intel Core i9-12950HX, the latter is the indication of 100 MHz faster than 12800H, but at the same time, it offers 2 extra cores. The specs of the former parts are still unknown because both CPUs come with a maximum boost of 4.9 GHz, so changes are probably to be seen in the base clocks frequency (which are not detected by the software).
Core i5-12600HX CPU is also going to launch by Intel, It featuring with 16 threads and 12 cores. So it has the same core count and thread count as the ‘original’ 12600H SKU. The only difference is the 4.6 GHz boost frequency which is 100 MHz faster than the original.
Apart from the clear core bump for some core i5/i7/i9 series and higher clock frequencies, there is also an ‘issue’ of weak integrated graphics. Because some of these SKUs have finally been tested in the Geekbench GPU benchmark, we can now confirm that we are looking at a BGA version of 16-core desktop silicon with 32 GPU Xe-LP cores, rather than 96 available with the Alder Lake-P version (14-core):
In terms of performance, the Intel Alder Lake-HX series will now hold the first position in the CPU benchmarks of Geekbench. AMD’s flagship processor Ryzen 6000HX “Rembrandt/Zen3” part is far behind.
The Core Alder Lake-HX 12th Gen series were listed in some much older leaks as the ‘Muscle’ section with a base power of 55W. Guessing from the Geekbench entries, one can conclude that the mobile workstations with NVIDIA RTX A5500/A1000 GPUs will use Intel Alder Lake-HX series processors.
